Attributed to James Hicks of Dublin, fine satinwood and marquetry demi-lune side cabinet, the top inlaid with various woods in the form of a central fan surrounded by anthemion, floral swags and borders, two glazed doors below flanked by further bow glazed panels and divided by further marquetry inlay in the form of swags, flowers and musical instruments, the shaped interior with pleated silk back, the parcel gilt doors above a gilt ribbon moulding and low turned fluted gilded supports, 163cm wide
Catalogue Note: James Hicks was born into a family of Dublin chair makers, he served his apprenticeship in London and by the mid 19th Century had established one of the most successful cabinet making firms in Dublin producing furniture of superb quality in the styles of Sheraton, Hepplewhite and Chippendale.
